- I bought a 340Mb IBM 2.5" IDE drive from Power Computing, UK. The cable they
- supplied with this drive had the wire nearest the front of the machine cut,
- as you described. However, I couldn't get my A1200 to recognise the drive
- until I replaced the cable with the one from my old 80Mb Seagate drive,
- WITHOUT a cut. Power tell me they put a cut in ALL the cables they supply
- with 2.5" drives for the A1200, "because some drives won't boot", but the
- technical person I spoke to couldn't tell my WHY exactly.
-
- I've been told by someone at Gasteiner that Conner drives DO need the cut to
- boot. But obviously my particular make of drive (IBM) didn't like it!
